The Sea King is used for search and rescue (hence the pun name, I'm sure) and for decades we've seen them as the friendly face of Rescue, usually in RAF Bright Yellow. The rescue contract is now being taken over by civilian contractors - in a couple of weeks in fact - and so the Sea Kings are all going to be grounded. Sad days. I like them. This picture shows the role demo for today which features the Royal Navy Rescue and the Southport RNLI boat. That's probably the two best reasons why if you fall off a boat you want to do it in British Waters. :) This makes me sad...as well as the farewell we said to the Vulcan, today we also bad farewell to the Sea King.
