At that time the Park Service abandoned many of its hiking trails, including the Fern Trail, The Duck Brook Trail and all of the once popular hiking trails on nearby Great Hill. Being an abandoned trail, it is unmarked but easy to follow once you locate it, as it follows water pipes through the woods along the bank of Duck Brook, passing a spot known as the lost waterfalls. The trail ends at a drop off over looking the Park Loop road, with a short path leading down to the road.
