Panelists included Hartstein; Laura Stromberg Hoke, former adviser to Kinky Friedman, who ran as an independent for Texas governor in 2006; Jason Stanford, former adviser to Democrat Chris Bell, a former U.S. congressman and Houston city councilman who also ran unsuccessfully for Texas governor in 2006; and Rob Johnson, adviser to former Texas Republican Gov. Rick Perry, who won reelection to the governorâs mansion in 2006.
