Normally, a 60 foot grassy median separates an interstate's opposing travel lanes, but in the Bloomington urban zone, a concrete barrier wall [pictured] is being constructed instead. This allows Interstate 69 to fit within a right-of-way roughly similar to that of SR 37, thereby saving dozens of homes and businesses, which otherwise would have been subject to razing in an expanded right-of-way.
