Leno has been a great supporter of U.S. Army service members and the National Training Command (NTC) throughout his career and has visited the installation on previous occasions. The Weed Army Community Hospital (WACH) on Fort Irwin is part of the United States Army Medical Department Activity, better known to service members by its acronym MEDDAC. The hospital staff provides 24/7 support to the National Training Center (NTC), one of the largest U.S. Army training areas in the continental United States area with over 1,000 square miles of maneuver areas, state of the art training facilities and ranges, with airspace restricted to military use. The nature of care provided at the Weed Army Community Hospital focuses on primary care, as well as occasional severe trauma. The facility has a highly trained staff of professional care providers to include specialists in general surgery, orthopedics, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine, family practice, mental health, and a flight surgeon.
