This Saturday, August 6th will be the 30th anniversary of the beloved Nintendo franchise Metroid (first released in Japan for the NES August 6th, 1986). Over the past two years I have been doing a number of builds dedicated to the game (which I will link below) because it is a series very dear to my heart that brought about a lot of childhood awesomeness. Last year around this time, I had my Metroid Prime Artifact Temple Showdown blogged on IGN, which was unbelievably cool, but as I scrolled through the comments section, I noticed one that speculated how cool it would be if I were to build the Parasite Queen from the intro stages of the same game. Well, that was it, I decided I would do at least one more Metroid Prime build before the anniversary. Suffice to say, I got rather over-ambitious in this build and wasn't able to really finish it like I had planned, but nonetheless, I hope everyone enjoys it all the same. The Parasite Queen is the first boss you encounter in the game, and is probably next to Ridley and the Metroid Prime the most likely to give you bed-wetting nightmares. Anyway, here are reference images 1 and 2. As the Metroid fans will probably realize, this build is closely related to LEGO® Metroid Prime: Escape from the Orpheon Frigate! The rest of the Metroid builds are located in this album. Enjoy. ... and of course, happy anniversary to Metroid. While I may be too busy to play because I'm running outdoors and catching pokemon at the moment, I will always love this franchise, despite it's decline from the front lines of popularity these recent years.
