Mrs. York states that at the time, they thought that if they cleared $1 /day they could make a living. At that time they sold mainly gas, oil, tires and a few canned goods, but later switched to groceries. In 1939 they built the present store (photo above) and operated it until 1968 when they sold it to Mr. and Mrs. Jim McDermott. They Yorks also operated a snack bar but later closed it.
