This is a bulb from Sue's bedside lamp. I've known bulbs blow - everyone has. I think I've once even known a bulb blow with such force that it actually broke the glass. This however is completely unprecedented in my experience. The filament blew. The force within the bulb was so great that the glass part liberated itself from its bayonet cap and it launched, literally, out of the lamp, out of the shade and landed on the locker with a clatter.
