Allegedly. I can't say that I've noticed any celebration or in fact any acknowledgement that it's St. George's day. But that's by the by. Today brought me a little box from China. My first car, the mighty Wolfgang, was a 1982 Mk 5 Ford Cortina, and I've waited a long, long time to be able to get hold of a die-cast one. Speaking VERY strictly, I'm still waiting. This model is in fact left hand drive, which means it's not a Mk 5 Cortina but a Mk 3 Taunus TC which is the name it went by in left hand drive markets (apart from South Korea and Taiwan). I could share many stories about my time with the venerable Wolfgang (with the highlight probably being the time I came out of school to find a first year shut in the boot) but this is neither the time nor the platform to do it. Surprisingly from modern China, this model isn't great. The plastics are beautiful, and the moulding isn't bad, but the paint is poorly finished and too thick in places. That said...so was the real thing. ;) Happy St. George's day. Allegedly. I can't say that I've noticed any celebration or in fact any acknowledgement that it's St. George's day. But that's by the by.
