I refer to the Photos Attached – When the elevator is not in use or unpressed, the elevator button is dull and not lit (Bayfront & Promenade Train Stations, Park Hotel Alexandra). From my experience in Sydney, Australia – Hotel Park Regis Centre, University of Technology Sydney & Westfield mall, the elevator buttons are lit ALL the TIME in mostly white light even when unpressed. I wish that all elevator buttons in Singapore and the whole world would have coloured (e.g. blue) elevator buttons that are on all the time. This would save at least 20 seconds to 1 minute of each person’s time in trying to locate the right elevator button to press. Why? 1. White lighted elevator button against reflective silver background plating and white ambient fluorescent lighting are complementary colours and makes it slower to locate the right button. Why not coloured contrasting lighting on the buttons? 2. Turn the light of the elevator buttons on all the time. Change colour or to a darker lighting when the button is pressed. 3. Change the shape of elevator buttons from round to triangles. This will eliminate doubt and shaved another few seconds off per person. It may not be possible to reinstall existing infrastructure but at least you can do so for future elevators or just the button light colour and turning the elevator button light on all the time. As an elite capitalist, given the above time savings (e.g. 30 seconds) per person multiplied by minimum wage multiplied by elevator usage rate (population of Singapore/World) over the life span of Elevators/Singapore/World. How many Trillions of Trillions of Productivity $$$ would that be versus the insignificant one time cost? Could you kindly spare 3 mins to delegate this task to your assistant so she/he can delegate others to carry out the necessary review and implementation? This would definitely look great on your curriculum vitae and justify for significant salary increments and bonus. 8 January 2016 RE: Simple Elevator Button Change Max your Salary Increments and Bonuses Prime Minister's Office Orchard Road Istana Singapore 238823 Attention: Prime Minister LEE Hsien Loong Ministry of Transport 460 Alexandra Road #39-00 & #33-00 Storeys PSA Building Singapore 119963 Attention: Minister KHAW Boon Wan Ministry Of Trade And Industry 100 High Street #09-01 The Treasury Singapore 179434 Attention: Minister for Trade & Industry (Trade), LIM Hng Kiang SPRING Singapore 1 Fusionopolis Walk #01-02 South Tower, Solaris Singapore 138628 Attention: Mr Philip YEO, Chairman Board Of Architects 5 Maxwell Road #01-03, Tower Block, MND Complex Singapore 069110 Attention: Ms SOH Siow Lan, Rita, President Land Transport Authority Corporate Headquarters 1 Hampshire Road, Singapore 219428 Attention: Mr Chew Men Leong Chief Executive Officer Singapore Polytechnic 500 Dover Road Singapore 139651 Attention: Bill CHANG York Chye, Chairman Dear Sirs, I hope this letter finds you well.
