Keywords: drawing sketch This is a view looking southeast along Turville beach on the Turville Estate around 1915. Turville Point is in the background. The picture was probably taken near the Turville boathouse. The wooden canoe the woman is sitting on and the wooden motorboat behind it were probably built by the Turville family. Thomas and William Turvill, sons of Henry and Mary Turvill, started a boat building business on the property in the early 1880's. It is estimated that over 2000 boats were built in the boat house on this beach (from an article in the Wisconsin State Journal January 22, 1967). The woman in this image is Elsie Dohr. This image is part of the Emil Dohr Archives.
