Spoleto, Umbria, Italy, October 20 -- A beautiful cityscape of the medieval city of Spoleto in the green heart of the Umbrian mountains, in central Italy. Above the imposing medieval fortress of Rocca Albornoziana, built in 1363, while below the bell tower of the Duomo, or Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta (Cathedral of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary), was built starting from 1067 in Romanesque and Lombard style and consecrated in 1198. Spoleto was one of the major centers of the Umbrian people, before being conquered and becoming an important colony of Rome.
