Swift Parrot (Lathamus discolor) is an endangered species of parrot that breeds in Tasmania and winters on mainland Australia. There are estimated to be around 1000 remaining pairs. Habitat destruction, paucity of nesting cavities, and predation (mainly from sugar gliders [Pretaurus breviceps]) are the main challenges facing the bird.
