Osmanthus fragrans, native to Asia (Japan, China and Himalayas), and commonly called fragrant olive, sweet olive or sweet tea, produces clusters of flowers that have an extremely powerful apricot fragrance. It is a small, upright, evergreen tree that will grow to 3-10 meters tall. Tiny white, orange, gold or reddish flowers, depending on species, appear in clusters in late summer through into fall. The plant has very fragrant flower.

A handsome, carefree evergreen shrub with dense, spineless, thread leaf foliage on an upright, bushy form. The soft, narrow, dark green leaflets create a fern-like appearance. Bright yellow flower spikes appear in fall, followed by purple-blue berries. Use as a filler in borders and beds or as an accent.

Suriname: tropical rainforest from the air - With more than 15.2 million ha of forest cover (93% of its total area) Suriname is one of the world'd most forested countries. Historical annual rates of deforestation are well below 0.1%, so the country is classified as a High Forest cover, Low Deforestation rate (HFLD) country. These forests allow Suriname to be carbon-negative, the country removes more greenhouse gases from the atmosphere than it emits. The Surinamese Rainforest region comprises three inland districts: Brokopondo, Para and Sipaliwini. The area is part of the vast Amazon region and is almost entirely covered with tropical rainforest.
