The Monument to the Great Fire of London of 1666 is situated near the northern end of London Bridge at the junction of Monument Street and Fish Hill in the City of London. Designed by Robert Hooke in collaboration with Christopher Wren, the Monument has a viewing platform at the top, which is reached by 311 steps, its height of 202 feet marking the distance from the site of the baker’s shop of Thomas Farrinor where the fire began.
