Phacelia crenulata is a species of flowering plant in the borage family, Boraginaceae. Its common names include crenate phacelia, notch-leaf scorpion-weed, notch-leaved phacelia, cleftleaf wildheliotrope, and heliotrope phacelia and found in Death Valley National Park, California.

This is a whole plant of lesser burdock (Arctium minus) growing in a field. Burdock grows well in shaded hedgerows, and to see an isolated plant like this is relatively rare. The small purple flowers turn into brown seed balls (burrs). Each seed has a fierce hook that will catch in an animal's fur (or a person's trousers), a clinging characteristic that led to the invention of Velcro by George de Mestral. The Latin name 'Arctium' derives from the Greek arctos, a bear, a reference to the furry texture of the burrs.
