Mahonia bealei, commonly known as Leatherleaf Mahonia or Beale’s barberry, is an evergreen shrub with large, leathery leaves, each composed of 9-13 spiny leaflets. Fragrant yellow flowers in loose, spreading to pendant racemes, bloom in late winter to early spring (February- April).
