Short to medium, yellowish-brown, saprophytic. Stem erect without leaves but with scale-like, semi-membranous, sheaths overlapping one another. Flowers  numerous in a spike-like raceme; rather sickly scented, yellowish-brown like the rest of the plant, but occasionally yellowish or whitish, the sepals and petals similar, not spreading; lip 8-12mm, often rather greyish-brown, 2 lobed, spurless.\nHabitat: Beech and other woods, to 1700m.\nFlowering Season: May-July.\nDistribution: Throughout Europe, but rare or absent in the North.\n\nThis Picture is made during a long weekend in the Eifel (Germany) in June 2019.
