A suggestive view of the southern facade of the Palazzo Montecitorio (Montecitorio Palace), seat of the Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Parliament, seen from Piazza di Monte Citorio in the historic heart of Rome. The Palazzo Montecitorio, in addition to hosting the legislative work of the deputies, is the institutional seat every seven years where the election of the President of the Italian Republic takes place. The palace was built in the Baroque style in the second half of the 17th century, based on a project by Gian Lorenzo Bernini and Carlo Fontana, as the residence of the Ludovisi family. After the unification of Italy in 1861 and the definition of Rome as the capital in 1870, the palace was expropriated and designated as the Parliament of the new national state. At the end of the 19th century Palazzo Montecitorio was enlarged on a project by Ernesto Basile, with the construction of the legislative hemicycle and the northern palace in Liberty style. In 1980 the historic center of Rome was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Image in High Definition format.

A suggestive and idyllic view of Piazza IV Novembre with the Fontana Maggiore and the Duomo di San Lorenzo in the historical and artistic heart of Perugia, capital of the Umbria region, in central Italy. On the right, the Fontana Maggiore (Mayor Fountain), built in 1275 as a terminal of the medieval aqueduct, is composed of two polygonal marble basins concentric decorated with bas-reliefs sculpted by Nicola and Giovanni Pisano with symbols and scenes of the agrarian tradition and feudal culture, the months of the year with the zodiac signs and the liberal arts, some characters from the Bible and from the history of ancient Rome. In the background, the side façade of the Duomo di San Lorenzo (Cathedral of Saint Lawrence), built in Gothic style starting from 1345 and completed in 1490 and characterized by its splendid pink marbles, and the Loggia di Braccio, built in 1423. Founded by the Etruscans on an ancient Umbrian settlement, Perugia is one of the most loved and visited medieval Italian cities, rich in artistic and architectural treasures that span almost three thousand years of history. The Umbria region, considered the green lung of Italy for its wooded mountains, is characterized by a perfect integration between nature and the presence of man, in a context of environmental sustainability and healthy life. In addition to its immense artistic and historical heritage, Umbria is famous for its food and wine production and for the quality of the olive oil produced in these lands.
