The Simón Bolívar Monument on the Boyacá Bridge, Tunja, was created by sculptor Ferdinand von Miller and inaugurated on July 20, 1884. This bronze work depicts Simón Bolívar, supported by five women who symbolize the five nations liberated by him: Colombia, Venezuela, Perú, Ecuador and Bolivia. This set of bronze sculptures also includes four angels announcing the battle of the Boyacá Bridge and the liberating feat to the four cardinal points and a figure of Clio, the muse of history, holding a manuscript.
