Albino squirrels, which are extremely rare in nature, were found in Washington D.C., United States. It is found in nature with its completely white fur on the National Mall in the city. Albinism is considered a genetic anomaly defined by the complete or partial absence of pigments. Those who live in or visit the Capitol have the privilege of seeing these red-eyed albino or white squirrels born with a 1 in 100,000 chance. Scientists estimate that only 20 of the 2 million squirrel population in the United States are albinos. Experts warn that these unique creatures of nature should be protected in their own environment and not fed by others.

Albino Gray Squirrel / Albino Grey Squirrel
Exochorda racemosa, commonly called pearlbush or common pearlbush, is a species of the rose family and is mostly found in Japan and China. Common pearlbush is a loose, upright, early-blooming, deciduous shrub, with the flower buds resembling white pearls, hence the common name. Flowers bloom in spring (April-May) just during the cherry blossom season, each flower being 5-petaled, cup-shaped and white.

A Grey Squirrel
Albinism is caused by a mutation in a gene that controls melanin production.  The incidence rate of albino squirrels is only 1 per 100,000. Mr. Clifton has seen albino squirrels before.  But this was the first time he tried to photograph it. Chionanthus retusus, usually known as Chinese Fringe Tree, is a deciduous tree which is spectacular in full bloom. In late spring or early summer, it is literally covered with delicate clouds of slightly fragrant, pure white flowers with fringe-like petals. As the blooms fade, the petals drop like snow on the ground.
