1st June 2019: Exterior of Alexandra Palace, affectionately known as Ally Pally, was originally built by John Johnson and Alfred Meeson, and was opened in 1873. Following a fire two weeks after opening it was built again by Johnson, with the intention of being the people's palace, to be used for events, entertainment and education. In 1936 it became home to the BBC and was the first site of its television broadcasting. Located in Muswell Hill, north London, today it is a Grade II listed building still being used as a venue for events and recreation, preserved with surrounding public park land. The round stained glass window is located on one end of the Great Hall, used for events and exhibitions.
