July 9, 2020 Valdez, Alaska Commercial fishing in the Valdez harbor involves lots of fish. The pink salmon are gathered up and will soon be taken to canneries.  Catching the dish in the nets is a group egfort.  The v\nMembers of the fishing boat work in unison to bring in the large catch. On this day they are gathering Pink Salmon. These salmon will be taken to canneries to be processed.

Valdez is a very important port, it is the northernmost port of the USA that does not freeze.
Salmon purse seiners catch pink, sockeye and chum salmon. The pink and sockeye salmon fisheries usually occur during the later half of the summer. Purse seines are nets used to encircle fish. The top of the seine is called a float line, kept buoyant\nby corks.  Prince William Sound; Alaska; Chugach National Forest; Nellie Juan-College Fiord Wilderness Study Area.
