Acorns on a branch, beauty in nature
oak acorns on the tree branch in early autumn in the mountains of Madrid
These are the acorn fruits of an English oak tree, hanging in autumn. The pedunculate oak (Quercus robur) is the national tree of England. The name 'pedunculate oak' refers to the situation of the acorns, which arise from long stems (peduncles), as distinguished from the 'sessile oak', where the acorns sit directly on the oak twigs. This is a close up photograph of acorns hanging from a leafy branch, against a blue autumnal sky..
