Anigozanthos flavidus (Kangaloo Paw) is an evergreen rhizomatous perennial, with the color of flowers ranging from yellow-green, red, pink, orange to green. Clustered at the end of stalks, they are tubular stalks, covered with velvety hairs and pointed lobes, which are curved at their tips, hence the common name. It blooms over a fairly long season, from late spring to autumn.

The tea tree, often called Manuka, Manuka myrtle or broom tea-tree, is a shrub-type tree. It is often one of the first species to regenerate on cleared land.
The color and shape of kangaroo paws make them one of the most rewarding Australian native plants for the home garden. Kangaroo paws also make very good cut flowers. They are exported to many parts of the globe and are grown commercially in the USA and Japan. The flowers appear over spring and summer. The flowers are pollinated by birds. Kangaroo paws are much in demand as both house plant and cut flowers.

Indian pipe (Monotropa uniflora) flower heads from above. A wildflower not a mushroom, in the New England forest in midsummer. With one flower on each stem, this is one of the few plants that lack chlorophyll (which makes plants green). It can live in dark forests because it needs no sunlight for photosynthesis. It survives by parasitizing certain fungi, trees and decomposing plants. Also called ghost plant.
