Namibe Desert, Namibe Province, Angola: a Welwitschia bug, (Probergrothius angolensis) amid Welwitschia seeds - The Welwitschia bug, an insect endemic to the Namib Desert, plays a vital role in the desert ecosystem. It is a species of beetle that feeds exclusively on the Welwitschia plant, a unique and ancient plant adapted to the harsh desert conditions. The beetle's life cycle is closely intertwined with the plant, as it both pollinates and consumes its leaves. This symbiotic relationship helps to ensure the survival of both species in the arid environment of the Namib Desert. This bug is some times erroneously called Probergrothius sexpunctatus.
Centruroides is a genus of scorpions of the family Buthidae. Several North American species are known by the common vernacular name bark scorpion
