The astronomical clock in Strasbourg Cathedral in the city of Strasbourg in the Alsace region of France. The 18 meter astronomical clock is one of the largest in the world and contains probably the first perpetual mechanical Gregorian computus. The astronomical part is very accurate. It indicates leap years, equinoxes, and other astronomical data. This is the third astronomical clock on the site. The first clock dates from 1352, but it stopped working so a second was constructed in the 16th century. This was replaced by the current clock after being struck by lightning in 1838.

Venice, Italy - September 24, 2021: Clock face detail of St. Mark's Clocktower in Venice. The Clock Tower in Venice is an early Renaissance building on the north side of the Piazza San Marco. It comprises a tower, which contains the clock. A fixed circle of marble is engraved with the 24 hours of the day in Roman numerals. A golden pointer with an image of the sun moves round this circle and indicates the hour of the day. Within the marble circle beneath the sun pointer are the signs of the zodiac in gold which revolve slightly more slowly than the pointer to show the position of the sun in the zodiac. In the middle of the clockface is the earth (in the centre) and the moon, which revolves to show its phases, surrounded by stars which are fixed in position.
