The General and up to 25 of his staff worked and lived in the house. Mrs. Washington also joined him there for several months of the winter. Washington's troops however were not afforded the same luxury. They endured the cold snowy winter crowded into these tiny log cabins.

Stockdale Mill, also known as the Roann Roller Mill, is a historic grist mill building located in Paw Paw Township, Wabash County, Indiana. It was built between 1855 and 1857, and is a 3+1⁄2-story, post and beam frame mill building. The mill is powered by a 202 foot long dam that spans the Eel River. Also on the property are the contributing storage building and corn crib. The mill remained in operation until 1964 and was restored in 2002.\n\nIt was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.\n\nThe Eel River is a 94-mile-long (151 km) tributary of the Wabash River in northern Indiana in the United States. Via the Wabash and Ohio rivers, its waters flow to the Mississippi River and ultimately the Gulf of Mexico. The Eel River rises southeast of Huntertown in Allen County and flows southwest through Allen, Whitley, Kosciusko, Wabash, Miami, and Cass counties to join the Wabash at Logansport.
