The frescoes, depicting the Stories of the Virgin, were painted by Filippo Lippi between 1467 and 1469. The Sanctuary of Santa Maria dell’Auricola or also the Sanctuary of the Madonna dell’Auricola stands on the top of the hill of the same name, 270 meters above sea level and a few kilometers from the center of Amaseno.
