The dugong is a medium-sized marine mammal. It is one of four living species of the order Sirenia, which also includes three species of manatees. It is the only living representative of the once-diverse family Dugongidae; its closest modern relative, Steller's sea cow (Hydrodamalis gigas), was hunted to extinction in the 18th century. The dugong is the only strictly marine herbivorous mammal, as all species of manatee use fresh water to some degree.

Tucked away from the powerful embrace of the current, white-tip reef sharks huddle in the cradle of a coral bastion. Their collective stillness offers a striking contrast to the dynamic flow just beyond their refuge, a natural haven within the rhythm of the reef.

This ovoviviparous species can reach more than 3.5m length, common length is less than 2m. The tough skin is used sometimes for leather. \nTasselled Wobbegong is threatened by extensive coral reef habitat destruction (pollution and dynamite fishing), as well as expanding fisheries. A considerable section of its habitat is protected in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. \nThe species is primarily nocturnal. This specimen was encountered at 3m depth during night time. \nTriton Bay, Kaimana Regency, Indonesia, 3°56'18.2099 S 134°7'10.8768 E at 3m depth

The reedfish, ropefish (more commonly used in the United States), or snakefish, Erpetoichthys calabaricus, is a species of fish in the family Polypteridae alongside the bichirs. It is the only member of the genus Erpetoichthys. It is native to fresh and brackish waters in West and Central Africa. The reedfish possesses a pair of lungs in addition to gills, allowing it to survive in very oxygen-poor water. It is threatened by habitat loss through palm oil plantations, other agriculture, deforestation, and urban development
