Petřín Tower is often described as a smaller version of the Eiffel Tower. However, this is not entirely correct. Unlike the Eiffel Tower, the one in Petřín has an octagonal plan. Moreover, it does not rest like its big sister on four steel columns of trellis. Its design is more like that of the Götzinger Höhe observation tower near Neustadt. Unlike the two towers, the intervening space under its legs is covered by an entrance hall. In addition to the elevator, a double helix staircase allows visitors to ascend without meeting those descending.
