Many small, white flowers of the Common Yarrow (Achillea millefolium), comprising a single inflorescence, growing in the margins of an agricultural field in central Scotland. The species is native to many areas in the northern hemisphere and has been used by many peoples both to feed livestock and because its essential oils contain many medicinal properties and include the painkiller aspirin.

Protected raised bog area in rural Scotland, with white cotton-grass, also known as common cotton-sedge, growing in the moist ground. Also known as ombrotrophic bogs, these acidic, wet habitats are under threat from peat cutting and pollution. The wetlands, with their environmental qualities are protected as conservation areas, home to unique flora and fauna, as well as important natural carbon absorbers, with the absorbent peat, that impacts climate change if destroyed.
Field pennycress, Thlaspi arvense is an edible plant used in salads. Their seeds are sometimes used as a spice, mostly for meat. Nowadays it is almost forgotten spice used in previous centuries.
