A glimpse of the ancient Piazza Delle Cinque Scole in the heart of the Jewish Quarter of Rome (Roman Ghetto), in the historic core of the Eternal City. In the center, the Fontana delle Cinque Scole or Fontana del Pianto, a fountain built between 1591 and 1593 by the architects Giacomo della Porta and Pietro Gucci. The iconic Jewish Quarter of Rome, the oldest ghetto in Europe, is famous for the presence of hidden alleys and small squares, where it is easy to find small restaurants of Italian and Jewish cuisine, and remarkable Roman archaeological remains. The ghetto of Rome is located in one of the oldest districts of the Eternal City, between the Campidoglio (Roman Capitol) and the Tiber river. A glimpse of the Palazzo del Quirinale (Quirinal Palace) in the historic heart of Rome seen from the gardens of the Carlo Alberto public park. The Quirinal Palace is currently the official seat of the President of the Italian Republic, elected every seven years by the Italian Parliament. Built in neoclassical style on the Quirinal hill between 1573 and 1583 as the summer residence of Pope Gregory XIII, this palace over the centuries has been the residence of the Popes (1605-1870), the residence of the King of Italy (1871-1946) and official seat of the Presidency of the Republic (from 1946 to today). Some of the most important Italian architects and artists participated in its construction and decoration, including Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Carlo Maderno, Guido Reni and Domenico Fontana. The Quirinal Palace, with an extension of 110,000 square meters, is the sixth largest building in the world. In 1980 the historic center of Rome was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco.
