Is a genus of flowering plants in the rose family, Rosaceae, native to the Palaearctic region (temperate Asia, Europe, north Africa), with a strong concentration of diversity in the genus in the mountains of southwestern China and the Himalayas.
Native to the western Mediterranean region, Scilla peruviana (also called Peruvian scilla, Portuguese squill, Cuban lily, Hyacinth of Peru, Spring bulb etc.) is a bulbous perennial, forming a basal rosette of up to 10 lance-shaped, semi-erect, dark green leaves. In late spring to early summer (April-June), from the center of the rosette, emerges one or occasionally several stalks bearing densely packed conical clusters of blue violet flowers.

Blue ginger (Dichorisandra thyrsiflora) is similar to the ginger plant but is not true ginger. Blue ginger belongs to the Commelinaceae family, same as spiderworts and inch plants. All are extremely easy-to-grow indoor plants.  It is a huge plant featuring a tall tower of foliage with big spikes of blue-colored flowers on top.
