Grindavik, Suðurnes, Iceland: fishing trawlers in the harbor and support facilities - town and municipality on the southern side of the Reykjanes Peninsula. Fisheries and tourism are the main industries. The largest fishing and fish processing companies are Þorbjörn, Vísir and Stakkavík. Grindavík is one of Iceland's biggest tourist destinations, mainly due to volcanic phenomena, with Svartsengi and the Blue Lagoon in the lava north of the town. Grindavík is a very large municipality that extends from Reykjanestá east to the county border of Árnes County. Krýsuvík, which is all within the boundaries of the municipality, still belongs to Hafnarfjörður.
