Calla lily which is native to the marshes of South Africa, is very elegant plant, but it is not really a lily at all, but a member of Araceae family. The extraordinary funnel or trumpet shaped flowers grow on tall thick stems and have a yellow spadix emerging from their center. Thanks to hybrid, calla lily can be found in many different colors such as white, pink, red, orange, yellow, purple and cream. Alstroemeria, also called the Peruvian lily, Lily of the Incas, Parrot lily, New Zealand Christmas bell, Parrot flower, Red parrot beak, is native to South America. Alstroemeria is best known as cut flowers and lasts as long as two weeks in a vase, but it can also be grown in the garden. Alstroemeria flowers bloom from late spring to early summer and come in many shades of colors such as red, orange, pink, yellow, rose, purple and white.
