$Melbourne, Australia - Nov 4, 2023: Melbourne's new Union Station looking north to Box Hill with a PTV-MTM (Metro Trains Melbourne) train in platform 2.\nVictoria’s Big Build has removed 2 of Melbourne’s most dangerous and congested level crossings at Union Road, Surrey Hills and Mont Albert Road, Mont Albert and built a brand-new Union Station.\nEarly works started in June 2021, the level crossings were removed in May 2023 and the fast-tracked station opened on Monday 22 May with trains running on the Belgrave and Lilydale lines in the new 1.3km rail trench beneath Mont Albert and Union roads. \nThe works will ease congestion and make driving safer as the crossing boom gates at these sites were down for up to 40% of the morning peak, when up to 61 trains ran through the crossings.$

A preservation society was formed in 1962 of rail enthusiasts and local people which bought the line from BR and reopened it on 29 June 1968 as a heritage railway. The first train to leave Keighley for Oxenhope on that date was the only train to operate anywhere on the network due to a national train strike. The line is now a major tourist attraction operated by 500+ volunteers and roughly 10 paid staff. It carries more than 100,000 passengers a year. The KWVR is currently one of only three UK preserved railways which operates a complete branch line in its original form.

The war memorial clock tower in Leek with visible names as well as other stores and car number plates. It was commissioned by Sir Arthur Nicholson and his wife when their son died in Ypres, Belgium, during World War 1. It was intended as a memorial to all local men who died in that war and later to the dead of World War 2 as well. Made of Portland stone, it's one of the tallest war memorials in the UK.
