The rhododendron hybride is called “Roseum Elegans”. \nRoseum Elegans blooms in June with beautiful lavender flowers fading to pink, with reddish brown spotting. The foliage is olive green. It is an old (Catawbiense) hybride bred by A. Waterer before 1851. It tolerates sun, heat and cold and is a dense and vigorous grower, reaching the height of 2-3 meter (in 10-20 years). The image was captured with a fast prime 105mm macro (or micro) lens and a full-frame DSLR camera ensuring clean and large files. Shallow depth of field with focus placed over the nearest flowers (and raindrops). The background is blurred.

Kalmia latifolia, commonly called mountain laurel, calico bush, spoon wood, ivy bush or American laurel, is a genus of about seven evergreen shrubs in the heather family Ericaceae. The small tree or shrub, that is native to Eastern North America, is covered with abundant clusters of flowers, lasting for several weeks in late spring and early summer. The flowers are very showy and cup-shaped with five sides and range in color from deep pink to white with purple markings inside. The flowers give way to brown fruits in autumn that persist into winter.
