Ranunculus most often comes in multiple layers of delicate, paper-thin petals, but some species also come in a single layer with their petals being very lustrous, especially in yellow species. Alstroemeria, also called the Peruvian lily, Lily of the Incas, Parrot lily, New Zealand Christmas bell, Parrot flower, Red parrot beak, is native to South America. Alstroemeria is best known as cut flowers and lasts as long as two weeks in a vase, but it can also be grown in the garden. Alstroemeria flowers bloom from late spring to early summer and come in many shades of colors such as red, orange, pink, yellow, rose, purple and white.
