St Albans Ye Olde Fighting Cocks allegedly the oldest pub in England. St Albans, Hertfordshire, England, UK. This is the outside of the pub entrance. The original timber-framed structure is visible. It was originally located close to St Albans Cathedral (when it was St Albans Abbey) and was moved to the present site sometime around 1539. The foundations are claimed to be even older, dating from around 793 but this is unconfirmed.

The Landgate (the only surviving one of four original fortified entrances to Rye) dates from 1329 in the early years of the reign of King Edward III. This monarch had made several grants to the town to aid in its fortification - and The Landgate is still the only vehicular route into the medieval centre of Rye. The British flag flies proudly above the fortified entrance to the town.

This is one of 18 blocks of flats built in mock Tudor style between 1928 and 1936. It is the Hanger Hill Garden Estate in Ealing, London W3. It is sometimes known as the Tudor Estate. Tudor buildings feature a white facade with prominent wooden beams picked out in black or brown. Historically, the real Tudor period in England extends from 1485 to 1603. Architecture harking back to such times shows a real affection for and appreciation of the past.
