They are usually able to board ten passengers and the crew consists of two or three people.\n\nDespite the availability of motorboats and ferries, feluccas are still in active use as a means of transport in Nile-adjacent cities like Aswan and Luxor. They are especially popular among tourists who can enjoy a quieter and calmer mood than motorboats have to offer.

Upper Egypt - Esna. It's a special event to anchor at the Nile floodgate of Esna. As soon as the Nile cruises have to wait, they are immediately  surrounded by many boats with flying traders. The traders try to sell their goods as souvenir to the tourists. This is a key source for creating wealth for the people in this region.
