The Pasteur Institute (Institut Pasteur) is a French non-profit private foundation dedicated to the study of biology, micro-organisms, diseases, and vaccines. It is named after Louis Pasteur, who made some of the greatest breakthroughs in modern medicine at the time, including pasteurization and vaccines for anthrax and rabies. The institute was founded in 1887. For over a century, the Institut Pasteur has been at the forefront of the battle against infectious disease. Since 2020, the Pasteur Institute has been working on research into the vaccine against the Covid-19 coronavirus. It was intended as a headquarters for the leadership of SiPo and Sicherheitsdienst (SD), where Heinrich Fehlis was commander (BdSuSD), but in February 1945 he moved his headquarters to Furulund in west Oslo, while SiPo's commander remained at Victoria Terrace.
