Flower Cardinalfish Ostorhinchus fleurieu occurs in the tropical Indo-West Pacific from the Red Sea, the Persian Gulf, the Gulf of Oman and scattered localities in East Africa to Seychelles, India, Sri Lanka, the Indo-Malayan region, and Hong Kong; south to Australia; east to Fiji in a depth range from 1-97m ( usually 1-37m), max. length 14.2cm. The species is common in shallow coastal reefs with moderate currents, also in tidal channels of estuaries. Adults are usually in small schools comprising pairs.
