Other types of mushrooms have pores instead of gills. Like gills, pores produce spores, but they appear as small, sponge-like holes instead of thin blades. The little holes lead to tubes inside the cap. As spores mature, they eventually fall from the tubes out of holes and into their environment.

Sycamore tree leaves damaged by a condition known as ‘tar spot disease’ (Rhytisma Acerinum) - a plant pathogen which affects maple and sycamore trees in late summer and early autumn. It does not cause long-term damage to the health of the tree but does not look very pleasant. This specimen was seen in West Norfolk, England.
