Field of beautiful and rare native Pink Flannel flowers in the mountains, background with copy space, full frame horizontal composition.\nAlthough of fairly widespread distribution, pink flannel flower is rarely seen in the wild as it does not appear every year. Apparently it requires specific climatic conditions for seed stored in the soil to germinate. It is reported that it flowers for one season a year after a fire if there has been rain.

Stoneman Lake is a small, natural lake located in the Coconino National Forest of Northern Arizona. Situated just south of the Mogollon Rim, it is within the transition zone between the plateau and the surrounding lowlands. The lake lies in a depression formed from volcanic activity over 8 million years ago. It is situated at 6770 feet above sea level and is surrounded by ponderosa pine forests and rolling hills. The lake has a surface area of about 80 acres. Because it is primarily fed by seasonal rainwater runoff and snowmelt from surrounding hills, the lake's water level can vary significantly from year to year. In this photograph, Stoneman Lake has abundant water from winter’s snowmelt.
After ravaging 2020 bushfires in Australia, heavy rain led to flooding bringing even more devastation. These circumstances created perfect conditions for a rare flannel flower (Actinotus forsythia) to bloom in the Blue Mountains region this week. Colombia, Laguna de Guatavita - This is the lake that the colonial Spanish and others tried to drain in search of gold that was said to have been thrown into the lake during various religious ceremonies of the Muisca people. In spite of cutting a wedge into one side of the surrounding mountains, they only managed to lower the level of the lake a little bit. They found a few artifacts on the lake shores. This is the origin of the original legend of El Dorado. The lake continues to be sacred to the Muiscas. The depth of the lake is 125 metres. Image shot from an altitide of 3,100 metres above mean sea level, on the Andes Mountains, on an overcast morning during steady and continous rain.
