The Bo-Kaap is an area of Cape Town, South Africa formerly known as the Malay Quarter. It is a former racially segregated area, situated on the slopes of Signal Hill above the city centre and is a historical centre of Cape Malay culture in Cape Town. The Nurul Islam Mosque, established in 1844, is located in the area.\n\nBo-Kaap is known for its brightly coloured homes and cobblestoned streets.
Cerro Rico is a mountain in the Andes near the Bolivian city of Potosí. It is estimated that eighty-five percent of the silver produced in the central Andes during the period of the New World Spanish Empire came from the mines at Cerro Rico. Up to 8 million workers died until now in the mines of Cerro Rico.
This mountainous area, at over 1,300 metres above sea level, covers the extreme eastern part of Tenerife and is almost completely surrounded by the sea. In fact, in the distant past Teno was a small separate island, which then joined with other sections to become a single mass of land that is today called Tenerife. This relative geographic isolation has meant the ravines and narrow valleys have conserved a unique biodiversity, architecture and set of customs and habits, which you probably won't find in the Tenerife of mass tourism and populated resorts.
