Longyearbyen, Spitsbergen, Svalbard and Jan Mayen Islands, Norway: locally know as the Spider, due to its shape the Taubanesentralen, or Cableway Central, is a prominent and historically significant building, serving as a striking visual reminder of the town's coal mining past. Constructed in 1956 on the site of an earlier cableway central, this steel structure on stilts was the operational heart of the aerial ropeway system that transported coal from the mines in the surrounding mountains down to the harbor for shipping. Its design was purely functional, prioritizing the mechanics of coal transport, and it linked three separate mine lines, consolidating their output before sending it to the coast. The Taubanesentralen and its associated cableway infrastructure were vital to Longyearbyen's industrial economy until the aerial system was replaced by trucks in 1987.

Cabbage tree (Cordyline australis), also known as Torbay palm and Torquay palm is a widely branched monocot tree endemic to New Zealand. It has stout trunk and sword-like leaves, which are clustered at the tips of the branches. Sweetly perfumed flowers are produced in large, dense flower spikes.
