A Japanese woman in Maiko's costume and hair style is practicing tea ceremony in a Japanese tea house in Kyoto. She wears traditional long-sleeved kimono with long dangling sash and her hair is elaborately decorated with seasonal flower-featured hairpins. \nThe main jobs for maiko, an apprentice geisha, are to perform songs and dances as well as to play shamisen, three-stringed musical instruments. Kyoto, Japan - October 22, 2012: Geisha representing Wake-no-Hiromushi a famous buddhist nun at the Jidai Matsuri festival. Also called the Festival of Ages it is a traditional festival celebrated every 22 of October since 1895 to conmemorate the  anniversary of the foundation of Kyoto. It is a large parade with over two thousand people dressed in accurate costumes of the japanese history that spans 1100 years when Kyoto was Japan capital and also represents well important historic figures of the past. The parade goes from the Imperial Palace to the Heian Shrine. Geishas and maikos take an important role in the festival when they dress up and take the role of important characters of the past.
