$August 28, 2024: The statue of Charles III in Puerta del Sol in Madrid is one of three dedicated to the monarch in the city. However, this is the only one in which he appears on horseback. Of all the statues, it is the most modern and undoubtedly the most well-known due to its location.\n\nThe equestrian statue, made of bronze, is situated on the west side of the square, within a large fountain, next to the Casa de Correos. It faces the center of the open space and the buildings of Hotel Europa and the famous Tío Pepe sign. Although it may seem like an antique, it has been in this square since its creation in 1993.\n\nThe City Council wanted to honor the king known as the best mayor of Madrid due to the improvements the city experienced during his reign. It is believed that a microfilm containing messages from the people of Madrid is stored inside the statue.$
