Florence, Italy -- The magnificent bronze statue of the Perseus lifting the head of Medusa after cutting it off, realized by Benvenuto Cellini and conserved in the Loggia Dei Lanzi, in Piazza della Signoria. Commissioned by Cosimo de Medici, the statue represents the cutting of the republican experiences of the city and of political divisions. The Loggia dei Lanzi, a open structure with arch and columns designed by Orcagna in 300, was used for official ceremonies by the Florentine government. Image in High Definition format.

Ancient classical sculpture depicting a man and a woman looking at each other. It is part of one of the fountains adorning the Maria-Theresien Platz, in central Vienna. The large square divides the two identical palaces that host the Naturhistorisches Museum - Natural History Museum, and the Kunsthistorisches Museum - the Art History Museum. All the complex was built in the second half of the nineteenth century. Black and white image.

On the right side, a cupid holds a mirror for the beauty. \n\nSherry Edmundson Fry (1879-1966) designed the sculpture, which was carved into the marble stone by Attilio Piccirilli ((1866-1945.) \n\nFry’s model was Audrey Munson. Munson posed for more than a dozen important statues, sculptures, and friezes, most of which still stand to this day across Manhattan and Brooklyn. She is now often called “America’s First Supermodel.”

Neptune statue on the Neptune fountain in Florence from behind. The Fountain of Neptune is situated in the Piazza della Signoria in front of the Palazzo Vecchio. The fountain was commissioned by Cosimo I de' Medici in 1559.
